Welcome to Tullamore Astronomy

  About TAS

Since 1986, Tullamore Astronomical Society has been helping promote the interests of Astronomy and allied subjects. It has done so through:

• Public Lectures
• Observing Sessions
• Club Magazines & Literature
• Its own annual (Cosmos) star party
• Newspaper and radio articles
• Other Public Events e.g. table quizes

Meetings are held at least once a month, and are open to everyone, young and old. Read more about TAS here.
Anyone can get involved, and our friendly and informal meetings cater for everyone. Why not come along and find out for yourself?

• Work continues on our COSMOS 2009 Programme. Some speakers are now confirmed, and the dates are set for March 27th to 29th 2009. Some details.

TAS becomes MAC! At our September 2nd meeting, a Special General Meeting was held to vote on a name change. TAS will adopt its new name of Midlands Astronomy Club (MAC) for the New Year.

The ISS makes a series of early evening passes over Ireland, sometimes twice, until December 10th. See www.heavens-above.com for accurate pass predictions according to your location.

You can also check out the aforementioned site for Iridium Flares, in addition to Shuttle passes when launches occur.
